Product description DEA 288 Ionic
A new world in monitoring curing processes!
For research of the curing behavior of thermosetting resin systems, composite materials, adhesives and paints, ASTM E2038 or E2039 have long been the standards for Dielectric Analysis (DEA). The main advantage of DEA is that it can be used not only at the laboratory level, but also in processes.
To measure ion conductivity, which is calculated from the dielectric loss factor, or ion viscosity, Netzsch offers single and multi-channel DEA systems. Depending on the application and the required measurixng and frequency range, different types of sensors are available.
The multifunctional design of the DEA 288 Ionic makes it possible to apply different test conditions such as heat, cold or UV light. This allows the user to easily determine the best parameters for processing the material.

A complete dielectric analyzer consists of the DEA electronics and a sensor. Disposable sensors are connected via an adapter box. The DEA 288 Ionic range consists of four models: the regular laboratory version, the slim-footprint version and two industrial versions. All instruments are equipped with the same state-of-the-art electronics and have the possibility to control additional accessories, such as a specially developed furnace or laboratory press. The technical differences between the devices are in the design of the housing, the footprint and the maximum number of channels.
A major advantage of DEA is the ability to use the same sample amount and geometry as used in the process. With the wide range of sensors available for both integration and reuse in the lab, almost any practical application can be reproduced, such as:
- Spray coating of thin films
- Application for a swab bar
- Dispersion of low or medium viscosity materials
- Positioning of the sensor between the layers of pre-impregnated fibers
- Immersing the sensor in a liquid
With sensors for direct integration in, for example, you should think of mounting in a press, an injection mold or even in a sample holder for both a DMA and a rheometer.
Proteus Software
The Proteus® Software offers everything you need to perform the analysis and evaluate the data. By combining easy-to-understand menus and automated routines, a tool has been created that is extremely user-friendly while also enabling advanced analysis
The color-coded tabs facilitate data entry and ensure that no important parameter is forgotten, such as sample information, temperature/time program or desired frequencies. Very useful is the possibility to prepare the next measurement during a current measurement, as well as the possibility of interim evaluation while the measurement is still running.
Each Proteus version is linked to the specific instrument, but can of course be installed on other/ multiple computer systems.
