Dilatometry (DIL) is the method of choice for highly accurate measurement of dimensional changes in solids, powders and pastes at a defined temperature change according to ASTM E831 and ASTM D696.
The new dilatometer DIL 402 Expedis Select and Supreme offers state-of-the-art dilatometer technology and are designed for a wide range of advanced applications. All instruments of the DIL Expedis series are equipped with the revolutionary NanoEye measuring cell; a new dimension in measuring range and accuracy.
It is the first horizontal dilatometer series on the market that enables force modulation, bridging the gap between dilatometry and thermomechanical analysis (TMA) under oscillating strain. These comprehensive, fully featured Supreme and expandable Select versions are specifically designed for both R&D and advanced industrial applications. NanoEye, the new opto-electric displacement system, features perfect linearity and maximum resolution over a measuring range that was impossible to achieve with classical dilatometry.
The Expedis offers the option of a double furnace, covering the full temperature range from -180°C to 2000°C, or increasing sample throughput by mounting two identical furnaces with a sample holder each. This greatly increases the number of possible measurements and increases the efficiency of the instrument.
Measuring the sample length is fully automatic, which is ideal especially for soft samples. A stable position of the sample in the sample holder is a crucial factor for correct measurement results. The MultiTouch function places the sample in the optimal position using a unique guidance. To easily measure different sample lengths, the thermocouple is adjustable.
High temperature version (HT)
For the high temperature version, the DIL 402 Expedis Supreme HT, two graphite furnaces are available with a maximum temperature of 2400°C or 2800°C. With these high temperatures it is possible to measure the thermal expansion of metals, alloys, ceramics and composites in applications such as aerospace, power generation, the oil and gas industry or demanding research. With the help of an adapter, these graphite furnaces can also be replaced by a standard furnace such as SiC, SiO2, Cu or steel.
The Proteus® Software offers everything you need to perform the analysis and evaluate the data. By combining easy-to-understand menus and automated routines, a tool has been created that is extremely user-friendly while also enabling advanced analysis
AutoEvaluation and Identify are new features added to Proteus version 8 for automatic curve evaluation at the click of a button and identifying unknown polymer curves. With this, even inexperienced users are able to obtain fast, safe and meaningful results.
Results generated through AutoEvaluation can be manually verified and calculated, giving the user full control over the evaluation process. Each Proteus version is linked to the specific instrument, but can of course be installed on other/multiple computer systems.
