Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) records a material’s temperature-dependent visco-elastic properties and determines its modulus of elasticity and damping values by applying an oscillating force to the sample. The DMA GABO EPLEXOR series up to ±500 N enable the dynamic mechanical (or static) characterization of a wide range of different materials, including elastomers and polymers, composites, metals, glasses, ceramics, biomaterials and foods, adhesives and liquids.
The modular design of the high-force DMA systems allows for measurements in the tension, compression, bending and shearing modes. The testing machines in this series differ from each other mainly in terms of their maximum dynamic force ranges of ±25 N, ±100 N, ±150 N and ±500 N.
All instruments in this series comply with standards such as DIN 53513, ISO 6721/1, ISO 6721/4, ISO 6721/5, ISO 6721/6, ISO 4664, ASTM D4065 and ASTM D4473.
The DMA Eplexor 500 has two independent drives, so that the static and dynamic force can be controlled independently of each other. The static force is realized by a servo motor and the dynamic force is generated by an electrodynamic shaker system. As a result, high static forces can be generated on the sample by deforming the sample against the springs and not against the shaker system. The DMA GABO EPLEXOR® is the only DMA system on the market that displays both the linear and non-linear mechanical properties of the materials under the test conditions. Nonlinear material properties can be easily evaluated using Fourier Transform and the method of hysteresis analysis (optional). All dynamic results (E', E", tanδ) are provided for linear and non-linear tests. Three different furnaces are available in the temperature range from -160°C to 1500°C.
There is a wide range of sample holders for different applications from liquids to metals and ceramics — all materials can be examined with the DMA Eplexor series.
All instruments provide static forces up to 1500 N. The maximum dynamic force for the most powerful instrument is ± 500N. With these forces, for example, the entire application field of rubber and elastomeric materials can be examined under compression or tension and even under the glass transition temperature.
