Product description TURBISCAN Lab
Fast and sensitive identification of destabilization mechanisms!
A temperature-controlled measurement cell allows either stability monitoring at specific storage temperatures or accelerating destabilization process. TurbiscanLAB can be used in both R&D and QC labs for development and routine control of raw materials and final product formulations. The instrument not only detects stability evolution at an early stage, up to 200 times faster compared to visual testing but also quantifies global formula alteration with TSI scale.
TURBISCAN® uses Static Multiple Light Scattering to detect particle migration and size variation in liquid dispersions. A measurement head moves over the cell height and works with 2 detectors – Transmission (T) and Backscattering (BS) – this offers highly sensitive and reliable analysis of transparent to opaque samples even at high concentrations.
T & BS signals are related to particle size and concentration and their variation is a sign of destabilization that is occuring. Turbiscan LAB acquires T & BS intensity every 40μm and at time periods adapted to destabilization phenomenon kinetics (short or long-term stability).
TURBISCAN is the world reference technology for direct physical stability analysis. With hassle-free sample preparation, intuitive software and highly reliable measurements, Turbiscan LAB has become an irreplaceable tool for any formulator. The instrument measures a single sample at a time but can be upgraded to an automated aging station with a dedicated robot arm and 3 storage racks with independent temperature regulation (RT+5°C to 60°C). In this configuration, up to 54 samples can be analyzed.
Turbiscan LAB is designed to work with disposable glass cells of 4 or 20mL but the complete kit is also available for The instrument scans and files sample information using disposable glass cells of 4 or 20mL and a bar code reader. A complete kit is also available for foams and viscous product analysis. The multi-user interface automatically processes and sorts the data providing an excellent solution for Quality Control requirements in terms of traceability. TURBISCAN technologies are compliant with the International Organization for Standardization guidelines for the characterization of dispersion stability (ISO/TR 13097).
Automated Aging Station (AGS)
High throughput screening is more and more useful to shorten the formulations time-to-market. Turbiscan AGS integrates the Turbiscan LAB stability analyzer, a robot, a storage station and a smart software for automatic sample handling and reporting. This concept enables automated management of aging tests from sample storage at different temperatures to shelf-life analysis.
Up to 54 Samples, stored in 3 independent racks at a specific temperature (RT+5°C to 60°C), are transported to the instrument using an automated robotic arm. The sample is analyzed and results are automatically reported without user intervention.
Turbiscan TOWER is the new flagship product of the Turbiscan range for full characterization of the dispersion stability of concentrated formulations (emulsions, suspensions, foams). 6 independent measurement positions allow simultaneous comparison of formulations for faster and better understanding of destabilization mechanisms (creaming, sedimentation, flocculation, coalescence..). Dispersion Analysis can be performed from 4 to 80°C to accelerate the destabilization process or to reproduce storage conditions. An improved mechanical design and vertical set-up offer better performance and smaller bench footprint.
